Yyrkoon, a French death metal band from Amiens, was founded in 1995. Their first release, the self-produced demo Oath, Obscure, Occult, came out in 1996 and secured them a deal with Velvet Music International. The band's debut album, Oniric Transition, was recorded in 1998 at Walnut Grove Studio. Following the release of their EP Forgotten Past in 2000, Yyrkoon signed with Anvil Corp in 2001, leading to the release of Dying Sun in 2002. The band's lineup continued to evolve, and they released Occult Medicine in October 2004 under Osmose Productions. Their final album, Unhealthy Opera, was recorded at Hansen Studios and released in February 2006, featuring guest musician Andy LaRocque on "Horror from the Sea". Yyrkoon disbanded in early 2007 following several lineup changes.
