Povarovo is an anonymous Russian dark jazz band originating from Moscow. The group's exact founding date and member identities remained unknown, with musicians performing under pseudonyms. Their music was characterized by a blend of jazz, ambient, doom, neoclassical elements, and experimental sounds, often compared to acts like Bohren & der Club of Gore and The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, and also incorporated electronic rhythms alongside traditional instruments such as clarinet, guitar, and piano, with additional unconventional elements like Andalusian percussion and classical music motifs. Povarovo self-released their debut album Tchernovik in 2007, which was reissued in 2010 by Aquarellist Records and again in 2012 by Denovali Records, garnering significant critical acclaim following its release on Denovali. In 2020, the band released a live album titled Live in Moscow.
