Cordrazine was formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1996 by Chris Ambrose on bass guitar, Hamish Cowan (ex‑Blindside) as lead singer‑songwriter and guitarist, and Rohan Heddle on drums, later joined by Sam Holloway on keyboards. The group debuted with the extended play Time to Leave in May 1997, which reached Number 42 on the ARIA Singles Chart, and released the single "Clearlight" in August 1997, followed by "Memorial Drive" in February 1998. The band’s first studio album, From Here to Wherever, was issued in April 1998 under Rubber Records, peaked at Number 9 on the ARIA Albums Chart, and earned a nomination for Breakthrough Artist – Album at the 1998 ARIA Music Awards; the same month the group recorded a cover of "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" for the tribute album To Hal and Bacharach. Cordrazine disbanded in November 1998 after a brief but impactful presence in the Australian pub rock scene. The group reformed in 2009, adding Nick Batterham on guitar and vocals and Jethro Woodward on bass and vocals, and released the studio album Always Coming Down in August 2010.
