Manuel Zurria, born in 1962 in Catania, Italy, is an Italian flautist who received his musical training in Rome. His career began with notable performances as a soloist in productions such as L'esequie della luna by Francesco Pennisi (1991) and Orfeo cantando … tolse by Adriano Guarnieri (1994). Zurria collaborated extensively with Salvatore Sciarrino on projects like Omaggio a Burri for the Festival delle Nazioni in Città di Castello (1995), Nuvolario for the Festival Milano Musica (1995), and Il Cerchio tagliato dei suoni for the Central Festival of Cividale del Friuli (1997). He also premiered works by numerous contemporary composers such as Claudio Ambrosini and Stefano Gervasoni. Zurria has also been a member of the ensemble Alter Ego, which included clarinetist Paolo Ravaglia, violinist Aldo Campagnari, cellist Francesco Dillon, and pianist Oscar Pizzo. His notable albums include Repeat! (2008) and Loops4ever (2011).
