Oran "Juice" Jones was born on November 28, 1957 in Houston, Texas. He is an American R&B and soul singer who is considered a defining figure of urban contemporary R&B in the 1980s. Oran Jones began his first musical activities as a songwriter and singer in the early 1980s. In 1986, his international career began with the solo project Oran "Juice" Jones, which quickly made him famous in the USA. Oran Jones achieved his breakthrough in 1986 with the single "The Rain", which was notable for its spoken-word narrative style. The song reached number 9 in the Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 in the US R&B charts and became his biggest success.
