Witthüser & Westrupp, a German music duo from Essen, was formed in 1969 by Bernd Witthüser and Walter Westrupp. The duo began their musical journey rooted in the folk and protest song movement, initially gaining traction with their macabre and later psychedelic elements. Their breakthrough came with the release of Der Jesuspilz: Musik vom Evangelium in 1971, a concept album that became their most recognized work. Witthüser & Westrupp released several albums including Trips und Träume (1971), which featured the notable single "Nimm einen Joint, mein Freund" and Bauer Plath (1972). They were frequent guests on television and radio shows, performing at various festivals. Witthüser & Westrupp disbanded in March 1973 after a successful run that included a tour through 100 German churches.
