Alan Sorrenti, born on December 9, 1950, in Naples, Italy, is a singer and composer. He spent much of his childhood in Aberystwyth, Wales, due to his Welsh mother, becoming fluent in both Italian and English. Alan Sorrenti's music career began in the early 1970s with the release of his debut album Aria in 1972, followed by Come un vecchio incensiere all'alba di un villaggio deserto in 1973, both featuring progressive rock and experimental tracks. In 1976, Sorrenti shifted to a dance-oriented genre, achieving significant success with the single "Tu sei l'unica donna per me" in late 1979, which became a major European hit and was covered in multiple languages. Representing Italy at the 1980 Eurovision Song Contest with "Non so che darei", Sorrenti finished sixth but the track became one of that year's bestselling entries in Continental Europe and Scandinavia. Throughout his career, Alan Sorrenti has released numerous albums, including Figli delle Stelle (1977), L.A. & N.Y. (1979), and Di notte (1980). He participated in the festival O' Scià on Lampedusa island in 2006.
