The Chelsea Smiles were formed in 2004 by guitarist Todd Youth, drummer Karl Rosqvist, bassist Johnny Martin, and guitarist Christian Martucci, with the band later adding vocalist Skye Vaughan‑Jayne and guitarist/vocalist RJ Ronquillo. Their debut EP Nowhere Ride was released in 2005 through Capitol Records. In 2006 the group issued the full‑length album Thirty Six Hours Later, featuring shared vocal duties between Todd Youth and Skye Vaughan‑Jayne, and toured the United States and Europe with acts such as Social Distortion and Backyard Babies. A self‑titled album followed in 2009 under Demolition Records/DR2, accompanied by a UK and US tour. Todd Youth passed away on October 27, 2018 at age 47.
