Peter Mergener, born on November 28, 1951, in Birkenfeld, Germany, is an artist known for his work in electronic music. He began his career collaborating with Michael Weisser, forming the duo Software under Klaus Schulze's label IC/Innovative Communication. Together, they released 14 albums exploring the theme of "computer culture." After their split, Mergener continued to compose and perform electronic music, often integrating light installations with his soundscapes. His sound also evolved over the years, blending spheric intros with rhythmic sequences and occasional sacred moments, influenced by artists such as Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, and Pink Floyd. Mergener's solo discography included Creatures (1991), Take-Off (1992), and Livedates (1993). His work "Mystische Nacht" for the Roman Festival Brot & Spiele in Trier, notably resulted in the Nox Mystica (2003) album.
