Jeffrey Gaines is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He signed to Chrysalis Records in 1990 and released his self-titled debut album, Jeffrey Gaines, in 1992. The album’s first single, “Hero in Me,” received radio and MTV airplay. His second single, “Scares Me More,” featured a live acoustic cover of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes,” which brought additional attention to the release. In 2001, Gaines re-recorded “In Your Eyes” for his album Always Be, releasing it to radio, where it reached number 22 on the U.S. Adult Top 40 chart and remained on the chart for an extended run. Over his career, Gaines has appeared on television programs such as Late Night with Conan O’Brien and VH1, and he has toured with artists including Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Tori Amos, and Sting.
