Merchant Ships was an American Midwest emo and screamo band formed in 2008 in South Bend, Indiana, by vocalist Jack Senff and drummer Dwayne Robinson. The duo recruited guitarist Nick Stutsman and bassist Michael Gerstein, and the group released its first demo, LOL Cats, in July 2008, followed by the self‑released EP I Want To Forget About Everything Bad That Ever Happened, Ever through Antietam Records. In early 2009 the band issued the single "Old Grey" on the Simple Days Comp., and later that year the group disbanded before reforming in 2010 to release the single "Better Days Ahead" featuring "Sentinel" and "Good Weekend". Signing with Count Your Lucky Stars Records, Merchant Ships issued its second EP, For Cameron, on 8 July 2010, and shortly thereafter disbanded permanently, making its entire catalog available for free on Myspace and compiling a posthumous collection titled Shipsography. The band’s brief but impactful presence earned a feature in Funeral Sounds’ article “Five Emo One‑Release Wonders,” cementing its legacy within the Midwest emo scene.
