Bad Astronaut was an American indie/alternative rock band formed in 2000 by Joey Cape on lead vocals and guitar. Their debut EP, Acrophobe, was released in 2001 by Honest Don's Records. That same year, they released a split EP titled War of the Worlds with Armchair Martian. In 2002, Bad Astronaut released their first full-length album, Houston: We Have a Drinking Problem. Tragically, drummer Derrick Plourde took his own life in March 2005. The band's second and final studio album, Twelve Small Steps, One Giant Disappointment, was released in 2006. Bad Astronaut reformed to play their first live show in July 2010. They also released the album, Untethered, in 2024.
