Achilles Liarmakopoulos is a Greek trombonist born on August 29, 1985, in Athens. He graduated from the Philippos Nakas Conservatory and won the Pasadena Showcase House Instrumental Competition at age eighteen, leading to a soloist performance at Walt Disney Hall. Liarmakopoulos holds advanced degrees from the Yale School of Music, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. In December 2010, he won the principal trombone position with the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra before joining the Canadian Brass in 2011, a role he held until 2024. He released his debut solo album, Ástor Piazzolla: Tango Distinto, in 2011. Liarmakopoulos began collaborating with the ensemble Pink Martini in 2013 and formed the group Cuatrombon in 2018. In 2022, he won the trombone position with the Athens State Orchestra. He has also served as an adjunct trombone professor at Brooklyn College in New York City.
