Christian Pollack, born on November 27, 1946, in Vienna, Austria, is a conductor and composer. He studied composition at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna and conducting under Hans Swarowsky and Sergiu Celibidache in Munich. From 1964 to 1968, Pollack served as a violist in the Symphonieorchester of the Wiener Volksoper. He then held positions as Korrepetitor and Kapellmeister at the same opera house since 1968. His career included stints as Kapellmeister at various theaters, including Stadttheater Regensburg, Stadttheater Aachen, and Klagenfurt. From 1984, he began guest conducting at venues such as the Volksoper Wien, Kammeroper Wien, Staatstheater Essen, Opernhaus Nürnberg, SWR Symphonieorchester, and the Symphonieorchester Bogotá. Pollack has recorded numerous classical works, notably those of the Strauss family, as well as compositions by Ziehrer and Suppé.
