Manfred Cordes, born in 1953 in Hidesheim, Germany, is a conductor of early music, musicologist, and academic teacher. He began his career as a professor at the Bremen University of the Arts, where he later served as rector from 2007 to 2012. Cordes' extensive discography includes numerous recordings with his ensemble Weser-Renaissance on the CPO label. Notable releases include Stoltzer: Missa Duplex Per Totum Annum (1995) and Schütz: Cantiones Sacrae (1996). His work has been recognized for its scholarly depth and musical excellence, contributing significantly to the preservation and performance of early music.
