Johann Rudolf Ahle, born on December 24, 1625, in Mühlhausen/Thüringen, Germany, was a German composer, organist, poet, and evangelical church musician. He studied theology in Erfurt and served as Kantor at the Andreaskirche starting in 1646. His first published compositions appeared in 1648. Ahle returned to Mühlhausen in 1649 and became a free musician before being appointed organist at the Hauptkirche Divi Blasii in 1654. He composed numerous spiritual arias, including "Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier" and "Komm Jesu Christ, sei unser Gast". Ahle's oeuvre includes vocal music, organ pieces, instrumental works, and theoretical writings. His compositions reflect the influence of Heinrich Schütz and Andreas Hammerschmidt. Ahle held various civic roles, including membership in the city council and serving as mayor until his death on July 9, 1673.
