Kraut, a New York hardcore rock band from Manhattan, was formed in 1981. The group consisted of Davy Gunner on vocals, Doug Holland on guitar, Don Cowan on bass, and John Koncz, aka “Johnny Feedback,” on drums. Kraut's breakthrough came when they opened for The Clash on June 11, 1981. Their first single, "Kill for Cash", was released in 1981. In 1982, Kraut released their debut album An Adjustment to Society. The band toured extensively throughout the United States and released their second album, Whetting the Scythe, in 1984. Tragically, guitarist Chris Smith died in February 1986, leading to the band's dissolution in the same year. Both albums were re-released by Century Media in 1992.
