K2, a German eurodance duo, was formed in the mid-1990s and consisted of singer Nina Poethen and rapper Martin Pelz. The project was initiated by producer Klaus Munzert. Their breakthrough came with the release of their debut single "Der Berg ruft" in 1994, which reached number 3 on the German charts and received a gold certification. This track combined elements from various sources, including samples from Karl Valentin and Gerhard Polt, as well as melodies from "I Was Made for Lovin’ You" by KISS and the Zillertaler Hochzeitsmarsch. The success of "Der Berg ruft" led to the release of their debut album Der Berg ruft, which, despite moderate sales, solidified their presence in the eurodance scene. Subsequent releases included singles like "Die Nachtigall singt/Show me your Love" (1994), "Großer Bär" (1995), and "Lederhosn" (1995). K2 also produced the track "Otti-Rave (Drunt im Tal)" for comedian Otto Waalkes. In the following decades, the group remained active mostly through singles like "Horny Matterhorny" (2000), "Watzmann" (2006), and "I Wanna Yodel All Night" (2019).
