Driftwood is an Americana/folk‑rock group originating from Binghamton, New York, founded in 2005 by high‑school friends Dan Forsyth and Joe Kollar. The band’s early line‑up included Forsyth (guitar, vocals), Kollar (banjo, guitar, percussion, vocals), Jon Doll (bass), Chris Duddy (mandolin), and Mike Torres (drums); by 2008 violinist Claire Byrne joined, and in 2011 Joey Arcuri replaced Doll on bass, completing the current formation with Sam Fishman on drums. Driftwood’s debut self‑produced album Rally Day was independently released in 2009, followed by A Rock & Roll Heart under Old Boy Records in November 2011. The self‑funded, independently released eponymous album Driftwood appeared in December 2013, recorded with Grammy‑winning engineer Robby Hunter, and earned airtime on NPR’s Mountain Stage and Music City Roots. Subsequent releases include Live at Grassroots 2014 (July 2015), City Lights (November 4 2016), Live at The Purple Fiddle (November 2018), Tree of Shade (December 2019), and December Last Call (March 2024).
