Calc, a French rock band from Bordeaux, formed in 1997. The group's music was characterised by its lo-fi sound and influences from American independent artists such as Elliott Smith and Guided by Voices. Calc began their career with the release of Something Sweet in 1999, followed by Great Fun in 2000. In 2002, they released Any Downs at All, recorded in Belgium under the direction of Rudy Coclet. Two years later, they produced and released Twelve Steps to Whatever. The band signed with Vicious Circle and continued their musical journey until 2007, when they ceased activities. Their final album, Dance Of The Nerve, was released in October 2007. A compilation of their work, titled Lost Serenades, was released in September 2017.
