Simon Patrice Minko'o Minko'o, better known as Koppo, was born on January 16, 1976 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. After graduating from high school, he studied literature and performing arts at the University of Yaoundé, where he was drawn to music. Koppo started out as an actor in 2000, appearing on the TV show Just for Fun and in the series Cité Campus, before launching his musical career in 2003. Joining the group Macase, he gradually got used to the role of musician on stage. He soon wrote a song, "Si Tu Vois Ma Go", which became the title of his debut album in 2004. The eight tracks on the album, a mix of rap and traditional rhythms, won over audiences, including "J'en Ai Marre" featuring Charlotte Dipanda and "Foe", a tribute to the prematurely deceased footballer Marc-Vivien Foé. The rapper then turned his attention to the big screen, starring in the films La Déchirure (2005) and Confidences (2006). His musical career returned to the spotlight in 2017, when Koppo unveiled the track "Gromologie". Four years later, Koppo followed up his first album with Ebotan (2021), twelve tracks on which the Cameroonian modernized his music, opening it up to electronic sounds.
