Cheryl Ladd, born Cheryl Jean Stoppelmoor on July 12, 1951, in Huron, South Dakota, is an American actress and singer. Growing up with her siblings, Ladd developed a passion for singing, dancing, and acting from a young age. She began her music career by performing as a member of the band The Music Shop during high school. After moving to Los Angeles following her graduation in 1969, she initially pursued an acting career under the name Cherie Moor. Ladd's first significant role was voicing Melody Jones in the animated series Josie and the Pussycats (1970). Her music career began with the release of the single "Mama Don’t Be Blue" in 1974, followed by "Country Love" in 1976. Ladd signed with Capitol Records and released her debut album Cheryl Ladd in 1978, which included the hit single "Think It Over", reaching Number 34 on the Billboard charts. Her subsequent albums Dance Forever (1979) and Take a Chance (1981) further solidified her presence in the music industry. Ladd also appeared as a guest on The Muppet Show, performing "I Enjoy Being a Girl" with Miss Piggy, and hosted several variety shows, including The Cheryl Ladd Special. She was honored to sing the U.S. national anthem at Super Bowl XIV in 1980. Due to experiencing limited success in the United States, Ladd continued her singing career primarily in Japan.
