Gisèle Marie Louise Marguerite LaFlèche, known professionally as Gisele MacKenzie, was born on January 10, 1927, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She studied music at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and moved to Los Angeles in 1951. Her breakthrough came with "Seven Lonely Days" (1953), which reached number 6 in the UK Singles Chart. MacKenzie released her biggest hit, "Hard To Get", in 1955. Throughout the 1950s, she was a regular vocalist on Your Hit Parade and hosted her own variety show, The Gisele MacKenzie Show. Notable albums include Christmas With Gisele (1957) and Gisele MacKenzie Sings... Lullaby And Goodnight (1959). She died on September 5, 2003, in Burbank, California.
