Formed in 2003, Mon Côté Punk usurps its name in form, borrowing from a wide musical palette, but not in the spirit of its protagonists Mourad Musset, Olivier Leite, Fathi Oulhaci and Loïc Lantoine, who hail from French alternative rock. Turning to jazz, Balkan music, flamenco, raï and musette, the group enhanced its songs with committed lyrics on the self-produced EPs of the early days and the albums Anawah (2007) and Le Passeport (2011), separated by a live album(Mon Côté Punk Live, 2009). Six years pass before they return to the studio for the album Picaflor (2017), whose variety of styles and commitment remain intact.
