Karel Štědrý, born Karel on 10 April 1937 in Prague, Czech Republic, was a singer, actor, and presenter. He started his musical career as a teenager with amateur bands, including one led by his brother Ivan Štědrý. In 1958, he met Jiří Suchý and Jiří Šlitr, leading to his debut at the Theater Reduta and founding membership of the Theater Semafor in 1959. His early singles included "Červené Údolí / Kaňonem Takhle K Večeru" (1962) and "Taxikář / Přichází Večer K Pastvinám" (1963). His career included notable roles in stage productions such as Člověk z půdy and hit songs like "Takový je život". In 1962, he joined the Theater Rokoko, where he stayed until 1972. He also appeared in films like Sedmý kontinent (1960) and hosted music shows on television. Karel Štědrý passed away on 7 November 2017.
