Laura a Její Tygři, a Czech funk group formed in 1985, was founded by Karel Šůcha at the Neprakta klubu in Most. The band's name was inspired by William Saroyan's short story Tracyho tygr. From 1986 to 1989, Laura a Její Tygři gained significant popularity in Czechoslovakia and began performing internationally, including appearances at festivals such as "Festival Poza Kontrola" in Warsaw and the "Stars au Festival de la mer" on the Bulgarian coast. The band's first album, Žár Trvá, was released in 1988 by Panton. Following albums include Nebudeme (1990), Síla V Nás (1992), and Rituál (1995). In 1999, Šůcha reorganized the group with younger musicians to revitalize their sound. Notable releases include Vyškrábu Ti Oči (2004) and Big Bang! (2011). The band has performed over 1,000 concerts worldwide, distinguishing themselves with a unique stage presence that included white shirts, black ties, sunglasses, and black pants.
