Ulla van Daelen, born Ursula Gramsch in 1962 in Düsseldorf, Germany, is a harpist and composer. She began classical training at age five on piano, later switching to the harp and studying at the Cologne University of Music. Van Daelen won a harp competition organized by the Federation of German Industries in Frankfurt at eighteen. Her professional career started with engagements at major opera houses like the Deutsche Oper Berlin (German Opera Berlin). In 1990, she became the solo harpist for the WDR Radio Orchestra, a position she held for twenty years. During this period, van Daelen released her debut album Shalimar (1993). She left the orchestra in 2010 to pursue a freelance career, releasing albums such as Metharphosis, and Harp & Glory.
