Skeletons, an American entertainment unit from Oberlin, Ohio, was founded in 2001 as a solo project by Chicago native musician and filmmaker Matt Mehlan. Mehlan released Life and the Afterbirth, and I'm at the Top of the World on Shinkoyo, an Oberlin College-based music collective known for its focus on group improvisation and DIY ethics. In 2005, Skeletons released their first full-length album, Git, on Ghostly International Records. Following this, the band changed its name to Skeletons and The Kings of All Cities and released Lucas in 2006, which was praised for its diverse musical influences. In 2016, they released Am I Home?, one of their most notable albums. Throughout their career, Skeletons have been known for their experimental approach and collaborative spirit, often incorporating elements from various genres into their music.
