Sung-Won Yang is a South Korean cellist recognized for his international career as a soloist and chamber musician. He received his musical training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and Indiana University under Philippe Muller and Janos Starker. Yang’s discography includes his acclaimed debut Kodály: Solo Sonata & Op. 4 (2002) and complete cycles of works by Bach and Beethoven. He has also recorded concertos by Dvořák and Schumann for major labels like EMI and Universal Music / Decca. A founding member of Trio Owon, he also held a significant pedagogical presence as a professor at Yonsei University School of Music and as an associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
