Moira Anderson, born 5 June 1938 in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire, Scotland, is a Scottish singer whose career began after studies at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and a successful BBC audition. Her first single, "A Perfect Day", was issued in 1968, followed by "My Shining Hour" the same year, establishing her presence on the British pop and MOR charts. In 1968 she launched the television series Moira Anderson Sings on BBC 1, which ran through the late 1960s and early 1970s, and she became a familiar face on The White Heather Club and The Good Old Days. Her debut studio album, Moira Anderson Sings (1968), was succeeded by Moira Anderson's Scotland (1968) and These Are My Songs (1970), the latter featuring the single "Somewhere In The Shadow Of My Dreams" (1971). Throughout the 1970s she released several thematic collections such as The Auld Scottish Sangs (1975), and collaborated with notable artists, including Sir Harry Secombe in the early 1980s. Anderson was appointed an OBE in July 1970 for services to music. Her later recordings include Moira – In Love (1987).
