Ivy Ling Po is a Chinese opera singer and actress who was born as Huang Yu-chun in Shantou, Guangdong, China, in 1939. She is famous for her leading roles in Huangmei opera films, most notably The Love Eterne (1963), and for being known as the “Asian Movie Queen”. Ling Po achieved early professional recognition as a child singer and actress under the stage name Xiaojuan in Amoy Hokkien films before joining Shaw Brothers Studio. Her film career includes roles in Lady General Hua Mu-lan (1964), for which she won Best Actress at the Asian Film Festival, and Too Late for Love (1967), which earned her the Golden Horse Best Actress award. She subsequently starred in the recording My Father, My Husband, My Son (1974) and won a third Golden Horse award for her performance. Her discography includes the studio recording Butterfly Lovers (2002), based on a stage production in which she reprised her signature role. Ling Po revived her musical career in the 2000s, performing concerts across North America and Asia.
