‘Be My Love - Alternate Version' is out now!
Benjamin Steer is a 23-year-old British-American-Belgian singer-songwriter whose music captures the emotional turbulence of modern youth. His breakout single ‘Be My Love’ defines him: an anthemic, obsessive declaration of longing shaped by his self-confessed hopeless romanticism & the anxiety that comes with caring deeply. Beneath the towering hooks lies a search for meaning, validation, & something real in a fractured, hyper-visible world.
Steer’s journey began unexpectedly while studying economics at the University of St Andrews. After buying a guitar to impress a girl, he quickly progressed from learning a couple of covers to writing his own songs. Encouraged by his mother to record & share them online, he experienced an explosive response, amassing 1.3 million monthly listeners & securing a record deal within a year. Faced with the prospect of becoming a “finance bro,” he chose creativity over convention.
Having grown up feeling insecure & afraid of failure, Steer found purpose in music. His OCD diagnosis both challenges & fuels him, intensifying his perfectionism & emotional depth. Songs like ‘Miracle,’ ‘Sinner,’ & ‘No One Wants To Die Alone’ explore heartbreak, identity, & Gen Z pressures beyond surface-level romance. Writing as therapy, he connects profoundly with fans—especially young men navigating expectation & self-worth. For Steer, success is not ego-driven; it’s about creating songs that matter, that cut through the noise, & in some cases, truly save lives...
