Katy Nina Karrenbauer, born on December 31, 1962 in Duisburg, Germany, is a singer and actress. She began singing at age twelve and received classical training as a mezzosopranist. In 1995, she released her debut album Vorhang auf. Her breakthrough came with the release of the soundtrack for the television series Hinter Gittern – Der Frauenknast in 2002, which included eight of her songs and peaked at number 4 on the German LP Charts. Her second solo album, Trau Dich!, was released the same year. In 2004, she contributed to another soundtrack for the series and participated in the music project Zeichen der Zeit. Karrenbauer also collaborated with Xavier Naidoo and performed at the first Berlin Wannsee Concert.
