Leyona, born Reiyōna on 31 August 1977 in Mihara, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, began her musical journey as a vocalist exploring classical, electronic, folk, metal, and rock styles. She entered the industry with the single "Orange" in 1999, followed by "The Beat Goes On" the same year and "Town to Town" in 2000, establishing her presence on the Japanese pop and rock charts. In 2002 Leyona released her debut album Niji, which was complemented by the single "Free wave / Joy to the World" the same year; the following year the album SunRoad and the single "ひかりのうた" expanded her catalog. 2004 saw the release of Leyona’s Greatest Groovin’ and the single "Try to Fly", while 2005 brought the EP NU WORLD and the album Spice!; both featuring collaborations that broadened her audience. Leyona’s career, managed under Cutting Edge, included multiple tours across Japan and appearances at festivals such as the Rising Sun Rock Festival, solidifying her status as a versatile and enduring figure in contemporary Japanese music.
