Martin Eugene Mull, known professionally as Martin Mull, born on August 18, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, was an American musician and musical comedian. He began his career as a songwriter, penning “A Girl Named Johnny Cash” (1970) for Jane Morgan, which reached number 61 on the Billboard country charts. Mull then launched his own recording career with his self-titled debut album Martin Mull (1972). Throughout the 1970s, he was known for comedic musical performances blending satirical and humorous songs. He released his final album Near Perfect/Perfect (1979). Mull passed away on June 27, 2024, at the age of 80.
