Vince Jones is an Australian jazz vocalist and multi-instrumentalist born as Vincent Hugh Jones on 24 March 1954 in Paisley, Scotland. He relocated to Australia in 1964 and began his professional career in 1974 as a bebop trumpet player on the New South Wales club circuit. His recording career began with the debut studio album Watch What Happens (1982), produced by John Bye. Jones achieved professional recognition for his vocal and trumpet work on recordings including For All Colours (1984), Tell Me a Secret (1986), and Trustworthy Little Sweethearts (1989). His collaborative studio recording with Grace Knight, Come in Spinner (1990), reached number 4 on the Australian charts and was certified 2x Platinum. He won ARIA Music Awards for Best Jazz Album for It All Ends Up in Tears (1988) and Provenance (2016), and for Best Adult Contemporary Album for Come in Spinner (1991). His discography includes the tracks “For All Colours” (1986), “Blue” (1987), and “Hindered on His Way to Heaven” (1993), all of which received APRA Awards. He received the Mo Award for Jazz Vocal Performer of the Year in 1996.
