P, an American alternative rock band, was formed in early 1993 in Hollywood, California. The group consisted of Gibby Haynes on vocals, Johnny Depp on guitar/bass, Sal Jenco on percussion, and Bill Carter on guitar/bass. Their first performance took place at the Austin Music Awards in 1993. P released their eponymous debut album in 1995, under Capitol Records, which was later reissued by Caroline Records. The band's notable song "Michael Stipe" includes lyrics referencing actor River Phoenix, who tragically passed away shortly after the band's performance at The Viper Room in October 1993. The group disbanded shortly after the album's release in 1995.
