Anew Revolution, an American metal band from Austin, Texas, was formed in 2005 by Joey Duenas on vocals and guitar, Frank "Frankie" Salvaggio on bass and backing vocals, Rob Urbani on drums, and Shaun Stockton on guitar. Their debut release, Anew Revolution, was released in 2005 and featured tracks such as "Cave In" and "Rise". In 2007, they released a live CD titled Live From the Machine Shop and signed with Koch Records later that year. Anew Revolution's first full-length album, Rise, was produced by Mudrock and released in 2008, featuring hits like "Done" and "Generation". Their second studio album, iMerica, was released in 2010 via E1 Music, showcasing darker tracks such as "Head Against The Wall" and "Crucify". In 2012, the band launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund new music independently. They released an acoustic EP titled Unplugged for backers in 2012.
