Fiona Burnett, born in 1971 in Sydney, Australia, is a saxophonist and composer known for her work in jazz. She started with classical piano lessons as a child, switching to saxophone at age 13 and had her first public performance in 1985. In 1992, Fiona Burnett moved to Melbourne to study at the Victorian College of the Arts, earning a master's degree. She founded the group Morgana in 1992, which released two ARIA-nominated albums. Fiona Burnett's quartet, formed in 1997, gained international critical acclaim. In 1999, she premiered her suite Soaring at Dawn at the Melbourne Women's Jazz Festival. Notable albums include Venus Rising (1999) and Sound Inspirations (2008).
