Allen Vizzutti, born September 13, 1952, in Missoula, Montana, is an American trumpeter, composer, and music educator. He learned to play the trumpet from his father, Lido Vizzutti, and earned degrees including a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music. His career began with performances in both classical and jazz genres, collaborating with artists such as Chick Corea, Chuck Mangione, Doc Severinsen, Frank Sinatra, Prince, The Commodores, and Woody Herman. He performed at venues including the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Newport Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, and Lincoln Center. He contributed to over 100 film scores, including Back to the Future, Star Trek, and Rocky II. His compositions have been performed by orchestras like the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He has taught at institutions such as the University of Washington School of Music and Eastman School of Music. His compositions include several orchestral works such as A Night in Tunisia, Esperance, and The Carnival of Venus.
