Victor Louis Goines, born on August 6, 1961 in New Orleans, Louisiana, is an American jazz saxophonist and clarinetist. He has been a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and the Wynton Marsalis Septet since 1993. Goines served as director of the jazz program at Juilliard from 2000 to 2007, and later as director of jazz studies at Northwestern University from 2008 to 2022. He has collaborated with notable artists including Terence Blanchard, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ray Charles, and Stevie Wonder. Goines has released albums such as New Adventures (2006) and Love Dance (2007), and performed on over 20 recordings, including soundtracks for three Ken Burns documentaries and films like Undercover Blues (1993). He was the president and chief executive officer of Jazz St. Louis from 2022 to 2026.
