Hipsway were a Scottish pop/new wave band formed in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1984. The group consisted of Grahame Skinner, Pim Jones, Johnny McElhone, and Harry Travers. Hipsway's initial breakthrough came with the release of their first two singles, "The Broken Years" and "Ask the Lord" were followed by their third single, "The Honeythief", which became their most successful track, reaching number 17 on the UK Singles Chart in 1985. This success propelled their self-titled debut album to number 42 on the UK Albums Chart in 1986. The album featured notable tracks such as "Ask the Lord" and "Long White Car". Following the departure of Johnny McElhone, who went on to form the band Texas, Hipsway released their second and final album Scratch the Surface in 1989. Despite efforts to maintain momentum with singles like "Your Love", the album failed to replicate the success of its predecessor, and the band called it a day shortly after.
