Raised by his grandparents in a house of 15 people in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Deon Kipping's strong religious faith and love of music drove him to become a modern gospel singer and spread his message across the country. Originally he imagined himself working behind the scenes and he majored in music and served as the musical director of a choir while at Lincoln University, before being mentored by producer Gerald Isaac. Starting his career by writing songs for worship singers including Marvin Sapp, James Fortune and Youthful Praise, he became a performer in his own right in 2004 and formed the R&B gospel group New Covenant to back up his smooth, soft delivery. With his timeless style and uplifting, positive outlook, he independently released debut album Real Life, Real Worship in 2006 and went on to tour with Grammy winning choir leader Kirk Franklin. Known more for his tender, earnest testimonies rather than flamboyant, energetic, preaching, he opened up about the highs and lows of his life on his 2012 album I Just Want To Hear You and took inspiration from The Bible passage 'John 9'. The album reached number six on the US Gospel Chart and helped him land a deal with major label RCA Inspiration for his third album Something To Talk About.
