Veikko Antero Sinisalo was a Finnish actor and singer born on September 30, 1926, in Riihimäki. He began his professional life at a glass factory and as a stoker before studying expression and singing at the Suomen Nuoriso-opisto and the Tampere Music Institute. Sinisalo joined the Tampere Workers' Theatre in 1952, where he performed until his retirement in 1989. His theatrical career included roles in musicals such as Viulunsoittaja katolla and My Fair Lady. He achieved national recognition for his film roles, most notably as Lahtinen in the 1955 production Tuntematon sotilas and as Anttoo Laurila in the 1968 film Täällä Pohjantähden alla. Sinisalo was also a prolific reciter of poetry, performing works by Lauri Viita across Scandinavia. In 1976, he received the Pro Finlandia medal and was granted the honorary title of Professor in 1977. Sinisalo died on December 16, 2003, in Tampere.
