Irving Fields, born Yitzhak Schwartz on August 4, 1915 in New York City, was an American pianist known for his contributions to easy listening and lounge music. His career began with notable compositions such as "Miami Beach Rhumba," "Managua, Nicaragua," and "Chantez, Chantez." From November 1, 1954 to January 3, 1955, Fields and his orchestra appeared on the The Ilona Massey Show on the DuMont Television Network. His most famous album, Bagels & Bongos, released in 1959 with Decca Records, sold two million copies. Fields' work often fused international music with Latin rhythms, including albums like Bikinis and Bongos and Pizza and Bongos. In 2012, Roman Midnight Music published his autobiography, The Pianos I Have Known: The Autobiography of Irving Fields. Fields continued to perform regularly, including six nights a week at Nino's Tuscany in New York City, until his death on August 20, 2016 in Manhattan at the age of 101.
