🎶 Goldmeister - Hip Hop trifft Swing
Welcome to the twenties, we sippen the moonshine (org. Willkommen in den Zwanzigern, wir Sippen den Moonshine) is the inviting passage from the new album by Goldmeister, which was released on August 14, 2020 by Schallkunst/Electrola. Chris Dunker and Phil Ohleyer of Goldmeister invite you back to the decade a century after the glorious 20s.
Since 2018 their debut album "Alles Gold" entered the Top 30 of the German Charts, the old-time jazz and swing of the Gatsby generation has a name again: GOLDMEISTER.
With their first album, Goldmeister were guests in various TV shows, such as "Willkommen bei Carmen Nebel", with Andrea Kiewel in the ZDF Fernsehgarten, they inspired the visitors at the Brandenburg Gate for the World Cup Fan Mile as well as at the same place at the New Year's Eve Gala of the ZDF. Goldmeister also appeared on stage at numerous cultural and jazz festivals, such as the Mosel Music Festival, with their band, the Ragtime Bandits and their pianist Lutz Krajenski.
With their second album "Willkommen in den Zwanzigern!" the duo of Goldmeister sticks to the tried and true: a mix of German hip-hop lyrics and the jazz of the 20s. But something is new: After Goldmeister had made it their task on their first album to give songs like "Sie ist weg" by Fanta 4 or "Dickes B" by Seeed new melodies and thus create a new interpretation of the songs, now seven of the 12 songs on the new album are written by Goldmeister themselves.
With their new single "Gier", the two artists of Goldmeister tackle an omnipresent and yet never before sung about topic. The striving for more and more, the unbridled greed that is in some people, is grabbed by the scruff of the neck here with elegant and often cynical lines and the monster called "greed" is finely defined. Similarities with living or dead persons are purely coincidental.
With the radio edit, Goldmeister have made their new single Gier danceable. Fine guitar licks and a driving groove unite with the biting and cynical lyrics. And awaken the greed to listen to it again and again.
