Hot Action Cop, an American rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, was formed in 2001 by the Long Island, New York-born Rob Werthner. The group initially consisted of Rob Werthner on vocals and rhythm/lead guitars, bassist Luis Espaillat, drummer Kory Knipp, and guitarist Tim Flaherty. Keyboardist Daniel Feese joined in 2002, prior to their debut album tour. Their first release was the EP Nutbag, recorded in 2001 and released in 2002, available exclusively at live shows or direct orders from the band. The band's self-titled debut album, produced by Michael Baker, was released on Lava Records / Atlantic Records in March 2003. Their breakthrough came with the single "Fever for the Flava", which achieved moderate success. Hot Action Cop toured extensively from October 2002 to December 2003 throughout the US, Canada, Germany, and England, supporting bands such as Evanescence and Trapt, and including a spot on the northwestern leg of the 2003 Lollapalooza tour. In June 2009, they released a six-song EP featuring Werthner, Flaherty, Espaillat, Feese, and Nashville session drummer Miles McPherson. The band's fourth release Listen Up! was dedicated to Daniel Feese, who died in January 2014. "Fever for the Flava" was featured in various films and television shows, including episodes of King of the Hill and Malcolm in the Middle.
