Wilhelm Thomas "Willi" Resetarits, born on December 21, 1948, in Stinatz, Burgenland, Austria, was a singer known for his contributions to Middle of the Road and Pop music. He began his musical journey during his school years at GRG 10 Ettenreichgasse and joined the Politrockband Schmetterlinge in 1969. The band participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in London in 1977 with "Boom-Boom-Boomerang," finishing second-to-last. In the mid-1980s, Resetarits adopted the persona of Kurt Ostbahn, leading to successful albums and concerts with Ostbahn-Kurti & die Chefpartie, performing Rock, Blues, and Rhythm-and-Blues songs translated into Viennese dialect. He also collaborated on projects like Austria für Afrika in 1985 and Gershwin on a String. His later works include "Stubnblues" (2005) and "Artmann" (2018). Resetarits was politically active, co-founding organizations like Asyl in Not and SOS Mitmensch. He died on April 24, 2022, following a fall at his home in Vienna.
