The Senior Allstars is a German instrumental band from the Münsterland region, specializing in reggae, dub, and ska. Formed in the late 1990s, the group released its first EP Sniff in 1999. The group initially performed and recorded extensively as the backing band for the artist Dr. Ring-Ding. Concurrently, the band developed a repertoire focused on instrumental Jamaican music. Their early studio albums include Nemo (2000), Red Leaf (2006), and Come Around (2008). The group's 2010 album, Hazard, was released through the Skycap and Liquidator Music labels. The band's lineup consists of guitarist Markus Dassmann, keyboardist Arne Warthorst, bassist Gudze, and drummer Thomas Hoppe. Dassmann has also contributed melodica and keyboards to the group's recordings. The band expanded its discography with the albums In Dub (2011) and What Next? (2012), followed by the vocal-heavy project Verbalized and Dubbed in 2014. More recent works include Dub from Jamdown - Darker Than Blue (2015), Elated (2017), and Soul from Dubdown - Darker Than Blue (2019). These releases explore the intersections of electronic, world music, and traditional Jamaican rhythms.
