Ralph Jaared Arosemena, known professionally as Jaared, was born on January 20, 1967, in Washington, D.C., and is an American jazz saxophonist. As a child, Jaared suffered from asthma and was advised by his doctor to play a wind instrument to strengthen his lungs, leading him to choose the alto saxophone. His career began with the release of his debut album Foreword (2001) on Lightyear Records. He released Hangtime (2002), also on Lightyear Records, and was nominated for Best New Artist of the Year by The National Smooth Jazz Association. Jaared collaborated with British contemporary jazz guitarist Peter White on tours and appeared as a regular guest on the Jimi King show. His subsequent albums included Addiction (2008) and Manhattan Nights (2010), both released under Trippin 'n' Rhythm.
